About our project:

Our senior design group will be working with Fawn Engineering of Des Moines to redesign a system that is used in their vending machines. The iVend is set of IR emitter and receiver pairs, serving as a light curtain, that are across the open delivery bin in the bottom of the machine. Its purpose is to reliably determine whether or not an item was properly vended. The system that Fawn Engineering uses now does not function as designed and not all items are being detected by the iVend. They have tasked us with recreating the system to function as desired. A simple block diagram of the complete system is shown below:
